Request for SCReN support
What are the requirements for my project to apply for SCReN support?
For a project to be eligible for SCReN support, it must meet certain essential requirements.
The following assessment criteria will be taken into account:
A. Essential requirements for project incorporation
-
Independent clinical research projects funded through ISCIII or European Union calls.
-
Multicentre projects. In the case of early-stage or proof-of-concept studies involving advanced therapies,
single-centre proposals may be accepted if there is a plan to expand to additional centres during later
phases
or future development stages.
B. Criteria for assessing applications
-
Clinical trials involving medicinal products or medical devices. The inclusion of other types of studies
will be assessed based on the needs of the National Health System (NHS) and the availability of Platform
resources.
-
Collaboration with other platforms, networks, groups, or institutions — especially with other ISCIII
platforms.
-
Minimum scope of support requested from the Platform. For national projects, it is expected that support
is requested
for all core Platform services (project management, monitoring, pharmacovigilance, data management, and
statistics).
In European or international projects, requesting at least project management (as coordinating center)
will be positively valued.
-
The characteristics and duration of the project will be evaluated according to the resources available at
the time of application.
-
Exceptionally, proposals that are not funded by ISCIII or the European Union, but which are
considered a priority
within the framework of independent clinical research due to their relevance to the NHS and compliance
with the
remaining criteria, may be subject to individual evaluation and considered for inclusion in the Platform.
When to apply for SCReN support?
SCReN support must be requested through the local Clinical Research Unit (UIC) during the preparation of the
application
and before submission to the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. If your institution does not have a SCReN unit,
please contact us directly at
secretariatecnica@scren.eu.
The Platform has limited resources. Therefore, involving SCReN at an early stage of project development will
ensure an accurate estimation
of the necessary resources and will facilitate the project's start-up and implementation.
After an initial assessment, if the project is considered eligible for inclusion in the Platform, SCReN will
provide guidance for preparing
the relevant sections of the application that require Platform support (activity or consultancy), along with
a budget proposal to be included in the project.
How can we apply for SCReN support?
You can apply through a
Clinical Research Unit (UIC) belonging to the
Platform,
which will conduct an initial review of your project. The unit will collect the essential project
information
and forward it to the Platform’s Coordination Unit.
Once received, SCReN will evaluate your project and assess the necessary resources based on the study’s
timeline
and characteristics. If the project is accepted, we will issue a certificate of support for the requested
activities,
which must be included in the funding application.
If the project receives the requested funding, SCReN will initiate the procedures required for the project’s
start-up.
