The PT ISCIII IC – SCReN Platform is part of the ECRIN-ERIC Network.
ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) is a non-profit organisation and part of the ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium). It operates within the field of independent/academic clinical research.
The network connects national clinical research infrastructures across its member countries and facilitates the development of multinational clinical studies by offering regulatory advice and operational support services—always in compliance with current European Union (EU) legislation and with the endorsement of its member states.
Currently, ECRIN comprises networks from 13 EU countries, all of which are full members: the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, and Slovakia.

The PT ISCIII IC – SCReN Platform has been established as the Network’s national partner in Spain under a framework agreement. Through this partnership, SCReN’s Clinical Research Units (CRUs, CTUs or Clinical Trial Units) are integrated as clinical research nodes within of the ECRIN-ERIC.
In general, the collaboration is based on cooperation between the National Network Coordination structure (Scientific Partner) and the European correspondents or EuCo (European Correspondent), who act as ECRIN representatives in implementing the Network’s work in each member country.
In Spain, the Internationalization Working Group (GdT) serves as the coordinating body for the National Network-EuCo, bringing together the Coordination Unit (Coordinating Center of Scientific Partner), the EuCos, and the node hosting the EuCos (ECRIN National Hub of Scientific Partner) within the Working Group’s coordination structure.
